00Profile, who's behind the camera

Hi, I'm Martín, a very enthusiastic 16-year-old who loves to take photos.

I got into photography a few years ago, when my dad introduced me to it, but inside EYP I started this year, going to two regionals where I learnt lots of concepts, ideas and techniques. EYP has helped me develop my media skills in various ways, and I intend to keep expanding my creativity by learning new techniques.

I'm a very energetic person, but I also understand when you have to focus and work for the media team to follow its timings. I'd love to be selected as MTM for A Coruña, not only because I want to be with my friends, but because I think it's a very valuable experience that can help me develop my media skills.

02Rethinking EYP Media

Something I'd rethink in EYP Media.

I believe EYP media is produced based on stereotypes, since people tend to repeat what their mentors did more often, so they are less likely to experiment with a wider variety of techniques. For example, the output format for media projects is almost always related to Instagram format in composition, either being vertical 9:16 or post format 1:1.

I believe Instagram is a good way to share media projects, but that doesn't mean our formats should be tied to that. For example, if you wanted to give delegates a morning puzzle every day as part of a media project, you could send it as a newsletter or even a website. I believe there is a wide variety of formats media can look like, and while Instagram is a nice way to get lots of views, maybe it's not the best way to showcase your creativity.

I would approach this issue by turning it into a tool where projects are shared but not necessarily presented through Instagram. By allowing people to present videos in whatever format they want, but still allowing them to use the tools to reach more people, like Instagram, you are helping a greater variety in creativity, from songs to videos and other unconventional forms of art, while still allowing them to keep the benefits of Instagram as a means to reach more people, not exclusively as a canvas for their creativity.

03Growth

What is uncomfortable about growth, and what can we learn?

An example where growth has been uncomfortable is during Cascais RSC 2026. Before starting my media project, my initial idea was simple, take one photo for every letter of the acronym, but then Cardi helped me realise that it might be too simple and I should make it more unique.

At first, I thought my original idea was good enough, so we argued and came up with a different variation, which showed me it wasn't such a good idea. This helped me realise ideas aren't final and changing them doesn't mean you were wrong, and after a few more rounds of trial and error, we successfully landed on the final design.

This helped me learn that many times your first idea is not the best, and it can always be improved to obtain a better, more creative look. Even after brainstorming the final idea, along the way, I decided to change the font and colour to have better aesthetics. This feedback showed me how many times I am very rigid and stick with my initial idea, and that the feedback is not meant to hurt your feelings or insult your idea, just to help you improve, and that what really helps you develop your media skills is knowing how to listen to the feedback and detach yourself from initial ideas.

04Media types

Different types of media I'm excited about.

I've realised that there are a lot of media formats that are not typically done, such as web design or artistic things with hands, so I think a type of media that would excite me is a physical project where every delegate gets to actually interact with the project.

Also, since it's a national session, I would have more time to actually finish a longer project, and it allows me to do something that normally wouldn't have been possible to do in a regional, like, let delegates each stick a piece of a collage or build a daily newsletter for them. This interests me because I love doing things with my hands and designing on my computer.

This wouldn't have been possible without Tron, for picking up my calls; Pablo Silván, for listening to my crazy ideas; and Lola, Guga, Sofi & Cardi, for teaching me how to be a better MTM.
