00Profile, who's behind the camera

I'm sixteen, from somewhere with bad weather and very good light.

I've been pointing cameras at things since before I could keep them steady, and I've slowly figured out that a story is mostly about where you choose to stand.

Media, to me, is the art of deciding what to leave out of the frame. Also, yes, I will absolutely film the 7 a.m. session that nobody admits to enjoying.

03Growth

A frame is a decision, not a recording.

I got my first camera the way most people get a bad haircut: impulsively, and slightly too young. What stuck wasn't the gear, it was noticing that two people can stand in the same room and walk out with completely different films.

You're not capturing what happened. You're arguing for the version of it you believe in. That sounds dramatic for someone who still can't parallel park, but it's the truest thing I know about media.

So I shoot quietly, cut ruthlessly, and trust that the right three seconds will always beat the right thirty.

04Media types

I'd rather make the thing than scroll past it.

A Media Team is the conference's memory. If we do it well, people remember the whole week through our eyes, which is a quietly huge responsibility to hand a teenager with a tripod.

I'm fast on a deadline, annoyingly calm when a file won't export at 2 a.m., and I genuinely like the boring part: backing up, labelling, double-checking the audio. I also know when to put the camera down and actually talk to people, which is apparently rare.

Mostly: give me a story and a corner to stand in. I'll bring back something worth keeping.
